Chlorinated Solvents REACH Consortium

The Chlorinated Solvents REACH Consortium covers 5 substances:

  • Dichloromethane (methylene chloride)
  • Chloroform (trichloromethane)
  • Carbon tetrachloride (tetrachloromethane)
  • Trichloroethylene
  • Tetrachloroethylene (perchloroethylene)

It was launched beginning of 2009, after 1 year of preparatory work guided by the European industry association ECSA.

Consortium description

The consortium members have agreed to cooperate, under the leadership of one leading company per substance in the preparation of a joint registration dossier for each of the 5 substances. The lead companies have also acted as SIEF formation facilitator, were elected by the 5 SIEFs as SIEF facilitators and they are the Lead Registrant for a joint submission of the registration dossier on the substance.

ReachCentrum acts as secretariat for the consortium and manages all organizational, financial and confidential information of the consortium to ensure compliance with all applicable antitrust laws, and issues LoAs to interested parties.

The consortium is open to manufacturers, importers and only representatives as defined in the REACH Regulation. The current members of the Chlorinated Solvents REACH Consortium are:
