The major European manufacturers of potassium hydroxide (KOH) have joined efforts for their REACH compliance activities and have launched a consortium end of February 2009 following one year of preparatory work.

The KOH REACH consortium structure includes a Steering Committee and a Technical Committee. The consortium is open to manufacturers, importers and only representatives as defined in the REACH regulation and includes their Affiliates.

The consortium members agreed to collaborate under the leadership of Tessenderlo Chemie in the preparation and maintenance of a joint Registration dossier for Potassium Hydroxide. The dossier includes the IUCLID file and a full chemical safety report. It is the aim to cover all known uses of the substance.
