Transparency in product authorisation evaluations

In an interview to ChemicalWatch, Cefic, the European Chemical Industry Council, calls for more transparency in product authorisation evaluations under the biocidal products Regulation (BPR). Raf Bruyndonckx, biocides sector group manager for Cefic, calls on the authorities to report, not only broad figures, but also reveal the average timelines for product authorisation and mutual recognition procedures. “We need to dive into the detail of where there could be problems,” Mr Bruyndonckx says. “When it comes to the active substance authorisation process, we know where the specific issues are, which means we can intervene and help. But the product authorisation evaluations are still a black box to us.”
