The manufacturers of light stabilizers and antioxidants have joined efforts for their REACH compliance activities and have launched the LiSAO REACH consortium in April 2009.

Consortium activities
The consortium members agreed to cooperate in the preparation of a REACH Registration dossier for LiSAO substances with the aim to cover the major uses of the substances. The dossiers will include information for harmonised classification and labelling. The consortium is managed by ReachCentrum. The LiSAO REACH consortium structure includes a Steering Committee and a Technical Committee.

Substances covered
The substances that are currently covered by the LiSAO consortium can be found in the LiSAO substances list. The substances groups covered are:

• HALS
• Phosphites
• Phenolic antioxidants
• UV absorbers

Our members collectively have significant experience with these chemistries. The industry will benefit from a common approach for these important substances. 

Light Stabilizers And Antioxidants Uses
The LiSAO REACH consortium is preparing a Chemical Safety Report, covering a broad list of uses through various Exposure Scenarios. Downstream users of are encouraged to verify if their product category, process category and environmental release category of their uses are included in the document LiSAO Uses. If not, please inform your supplier. It is also recommended to check if the proposed risk reduction measures are appropriate. Downstream users which have additional specific information about operational conditions or risk reduction measures can contact their supplier. In this way the information can be included in the Chemical Safety Report and the extended Safety Data Sheet.

Membership
The consortium is open to manufacturers, importers and only representatives as defined in the REACH regulation and includes their Affiliates. Companies interested in joining the consortium may inquire using the contact below.
